The South Carolina Botanical Garden was initially established to preserve a camellia collection. Like the entire garden, the camellia collection has continually grown and now contains over 300 varieties. Unlike most flowering plants, the camellias burst into bloom during the winter months. If you're suffering from the "winter blues," head straight for the camellia collection! Nothing lifts the spirit faster than fragrant flowers in full blossom.
