The Gospel of John

“The Gospel of John” will be presented Tuesday, Sept. 21 at 7:30 p.m. at Newton Hobson Chapel and Fine Arts Center on Southern Wesleyan’s campus in Central. “The Gospel of John” is a dramatic one-man presentation of the Gospel of Christ. Actor Brad Sherrill transforms the gospel into a captivating drama, presenting the entire story of the life, ministry, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Victor Asuncion, piano

Pianist Victor Asuncion will perform Tuesday, Oct. 19 at 7:30 p.m. at Newton Hobson Chapel and Fine Arts Center on the campus of Southern Wesleyan University in Central. Asuncion is recognized as a pianist of innate musical sensibility, fiery temperament and superb technique. He will present a program consisting of the Bach-Busoni “Chaconne,” Schumann’s “Carnaval” and Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition.” As a recitalist and concert soloist, he has appeared in major concert halls in Canada, Japan, Mexico, Turkey and the Philippines. The Army Field Band and Soldiers’ Chorus

The Army Field Band and Soldiers’ Chorus will perform at Southern Wesleyan University Sunday, Nov. 14 at 3 p.m. in Newton Hobson Chapel and Fine Arts Center, located on the campus in Central. This elite 65-member instrumental ensemble, founded in 1946, has performed in all 50 states and 25 foreign countries for audiences totaling more than 100 million. The Soldiers’ Chorus, founded in 1957, is the vocal complement of the United States Army Field Band. The 29-member mixed choral ensemble travels throughout the nation and abroad. Southern Wesleyan University will present “The Music Man” at Folger Fine Arts Auditorium on the campus in Central. With such unforgettable musical numbers as “Seventy-Six Trombones,” “Till There Was You” and “Lida Rose,” this musical will delight audience members of all ages. Performances will be March 18, 19, 24, 25 and 26 at 7:30 p.m. There will also be an afternoon performance Saturday, March 26 at 2 p.m.
